Reader disclaimer
Each review on OwnACasino is a photograph of an operator, taken by people who read small print all day. A photograph is useful. It also has a frame, and this page draws it.
The frame in five lines
- OwnACasino hands out information. It deals no cards and holds no money.
- A review is accurate for its check date; operators rewrite things without warning.
- When our summary and the operator’s wording clash, the operator’s wording is the deal.
- Some links earn us a fee. No fee earns a better score.
- Gambling is an 18+ activity that can cause serious harm. Where to get help is near the end.
Information only
Wavequarry Networks B.V. publishes the site. There is no cashier, no login and no game lobby here. The moment you leave for an operator through one of our links, OwnACasino drops out of the picture, and whatever you sign up to from then on binds only you and that operator.
GB licences, briefly
The Gambling Act 2005 makes a Commission licence compulsory for remote gambling aimed at players in Great Britain. A brand without one has no right to take your bets, so look its licence number up on the Commission’s public register before handing over any details. Commission licensing stops at the borders of Great Britain; Northern Ireland runs a separate legal regime. We explain the framework as clearly as we can, yet we are in no position to say how it bears on your own circumstances.
Offers that will not sit still
Welcome packages, spin bundles, wagering multiples, stake caps during bonus play, expiry windows and lists of excluded games are all moving targets. A review captures them as of our latest check. Should the casino’s page show something different on the day you visit, that page is what you are accepting.
Numbers behind the games
RTP figures, volatility labels and descriptions of bonus features come from the studios or from each game’s own info screen. Plenty of slots exist in more than one RTP build, and two casinos can carry different builds of the same title. RTP is a theoretical figure averaged over millions of rounds; your evening at the reels is not bound by it, and no betting system cancels out the built-in margin.
Why a score is an opinion
Stars, ladder places and verdicts such as “recommended” express the desk’s view after the twelve checks described on how we rate. They are no guarantee of payment, of good conduct or of the licence still being in place next month, and what happens to you at a given casino can differ.
Deposits, ID checks and cash-outs
Payment options, limits, fees and withdrawal times are decided between the operator and its payment partners, and they often hinge on your account history. GB-licensed operators must confirm who you are and can ask about the source of your funds; the timing and the documents they want are their own call. We sketch the usual sequence, but we cannot forecast or steer what happens with your account.
Tax
In the UK a player’s gambling winnings are not ordinarily taxed, though personal situations differ. For a large sum or anything out of the ordinary, HMRC or a qualified adviser is a better source than any website.
Outbound links
We point to operators, studios, regulators, charities and the sources behind our figures. Whoever runs each of those sites decides what it says, how well it is protected and what becomes of visitor data there. A link is checked on the day it goes in rather than monitored around the clock; report a bad one and we strip it out.
Trade marks and images
Brand names of casinos and games, their logos and our screenshots of them are owned by the respective companies. They appear here so that readers know which product a review concerns, and they signal no endorsement and no tie other than the referral deals set out on who pays the desk.
If an operator lets you down
Use the operator’s complaints route first. Should that stall, a GB-licensed operator must refer you to an independent adjudicator; the name of that body is written into its terms. Tell us what happened and we may revise the review, but we cannot take up the case on your behalf.
Harm and help
Gambling can turn into a compulsion. Fix limits ahead of play, let losses go rather than chasing them, and keep rent and bill money well away from any casino. GAMSTOP blocks you from all GB-licensed operators with one registration. The National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 is free at any hour, and BeGambleAware has self-assessment tools. Our responsible gambling guide goes further.
The desk’s own responsibility
Every page is checked carefully, but completeness and currency cannot be promised. No claim lies against the publisher for stakes lost at an operator, winnings left unpaid, or choices made after reading a review. Nothing here strips away a liability that UK law keeps in place regardless, fraud and negligent harm to a person included.
When we get it wrong
Mistakes happen even with careful checking. Mail the page address and the sentence you doubt; we compare it with the operator’s live terms and the Commission register, correct the text and move the check date. A verdict is never quietly rewritten while the old date stays on top, so the date you see always tells you when a review was last looked at by a person rather than a script.
