Before a casino appears in any list on this site it has to pass 12 checks. Each one is a public fact: it can be looked up in the UK Gambling Commission’s register or on the operator’s own page, and any reader can repeat it.

The 12 checks

  1. A current UK Gambling Commission remote licence. The brand has to hold one on the day we look, not to have held one once.
  2. The licence account number. It is printed on the operator page and can be searched in the Commission’s public register.
  3. The licensed company behind the brand. The name on the licence, which is often not the name on the front page.
  4. The year the site went live. Taken from the licence record, not from the casino’s own marketing.
  5. The welcome offer as the operator publishes it. Quoted in pounds, in the operator’s own words, without rounding.
  6. The page the offer was copied from. Every figure we print has a source page behind it.
  7. The wagering requirement on that offer. The multiplier the operator attaches to the bonus.
  8. Free spins, where the offer has them. How many, and whether winnings from them carry wagering.
  9. The cashier. Which payment methods are open to an account opened from the UK.
  10. The software studios behind the games. Who actually supplies the slots and the live tables.
  11. The game sections a UK player can open. Slots, live dealer, table games, bingo — whichever of them exist.
  12. The brand’s own logo and name. Stored at our end so the row cannot be confused with a look-alike.

What we do not do

  • We do not play at the casinos and score them out of ten.
  • We do not collect player ratings or star reviews.
  • We do not ring operators for comment.
  • We do not sell a place in any order; some links pay us a commission, and the commission is the same wherever the casino sits on the page.
  • We do not print a figure we cannot point at a source for.
